About Us

At the 2011 World Engineer’ Convention held in Geneva, Switzerland; representatives of African engineering institutions held a meeting on 7th September, 2011 at the International Conference Centre, Geneva and resolved among others to hold a General Assembly (GA) of African Engineering Organisations in Nairobi, Kenya in April, 2012. The GA could not hold in April 2012 due to logistic issues and was eventually held on 8th May, 2012 at Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Nairobi, Kenya. The GA marked a beginning of a new era for the entire engineering family in Africa speaking with one voice as an international member of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO).

The FAEO Constitution was discussed, debated and was unanimously accepted and adopted in final draft format, and was to take effect from the 8th of May, 2012. The accepted Constitution was the basis for conducting elections for representation in the Executive Committee of FAEO

Representatives of Engineering Institutions from thirteen (13) countries were in attendance while three (3) member countries sent proxies. Names of countries that participated at General Assembly were as follows: The Republic of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Malawi, Republic of South Africa, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zambia

During the GA the Constitution of the hitherto Federation of African Organisations of Engineers (FAOE) was amended; in full recognition of the legacy and good work of the FAOE and the Africa Engineers Forum (AEF) the GA, unanimously agreed to establish a central united home for African Engineering Organisations, in solidarity and under the name Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO)

The Objective of the Federation is to develop, in the spirit of African unity, direct relationship between its several member organizations on a basis of mutual understanding, so that their activities may be fostered and directed to the greater public good and, in particular. FAEO is the overall leader of the engineering profession in Africa and sets out to applying engineering for the benefit of mankind by serving humanity using the best practiced technology. We represent the engineering profession in Africa
